The Industrial Trust is the largest national provider of educational visits into industry for young people and teachers. Since 1999 over 200,000 have benefited from seeing the application in the world of work of what they are studying at school. The relevance of the subject comes to life and students get practical examples that they can use in projects and examples. One of the major sponsors of the Industrial Trust is the Royal Commission of the Exhibition of 1851 which requested that we enable young people to find the information that they need about engineering careers. In May 2010 the Industrial Trust joined with the Engineering Development Trust creating the most significant organisation in the UK providing a wide range of different educational enrichment opportunities for young people. The Royal Commission of 1851 has its origins in the famous 19th century exhibition which celebrated the technology of that time. The work continues today supporting the advancement of science and engineering through education and research. One of its beneficiaries is the Industrial Trust and the production of this information site is a direct result of sponsorship by the Royal Commission. Click on the logo for more information |

The Engineering Development Trust has over 25 years of experience of providing young people with opportunities to develop their engineering skills and interests. It introduces students to University life through its Headstart and First Edition programmes. It enables students to participate in real engineering challenges through the Engineering Education Scheme and Go4SET, and its longest running scheme, Year in Industry, enables young people to work inside a company for a year as part of a gap year before university or as part of a sandwich course. In May 2010 it added the provision of shorter in-company experiences for young people through its merger with the Industrial Trust. Click on the logo for more information |
